Want to know more about our travel insurance for Morocco?

Get clear answers to common questions about our Morocco travel insurance, including coverage details and what travelers should know before purchasing.

Morocco doesn’t require travel insurance for entry, and there are no minimum coverage rules for visitors. However, many travelers opt for coverage to help with emergency medical expenses, travel delays, or lost baggage — especially when traveling between cities or heading into more remote areas.

It might be close by, but Morocco isn’t considered part of Europe for travel insurance. It’s a North African country.

When you start your quote and are asked to select a destination, choose the country where you’ll be spending the most time. For example, if you’re only visiting Morocco, select “Morocco.” If you’re spending most of your trip in Spain and heading to Morocco for just a short visit, then choose “Spain.”

Staying informed while traveling in Morocco is easier with a few simple tools. Our Travel On app provides policyholders with real-time safety alerts based on your location, helping you stay aware of health updates, security advisories, or travel disruptions as you explore.

We also recommend checking the U.S. Department of State’s Morocco travel information and enrolling in STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) so you can receive timely updates and official guidance throughout your trip.

If you’re traveling to Morocco along with other nearby countries, our Morocco travel insurance can cover your full itinerary — unless it includes travel to any blocked destinations with higher safety or travel risks.

When getting a quote, select Morocco or the country where you’ll spend the most time. For example, if Morocco is your primary destination and you’re adding short visits to Spain or Portugal, you can simply list “Morocco” as your destination.

It’s smart to pack travel insurance for tours. Even with an organized group itinerary, things like emergency medical concerns, travel delays, or unexpected changes can still arise. Get our best travel insurance for Morocco for your needs and it may help reimburse you for medical expenses and certain trip disruptions that aren’t handled by the tour provider.

Want to pack a Travelex policy? Remember, our most comprehensive plans are Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential.

Whether you’re traveling between cities or following a guided schedule, having insurance can help you feel more confident if plans need to change.

Many recreational activities in Morocco — such as guided hikes in the Atlas Mountains or camel rides through the Sahara — are eligible for coverage under our base policies.

For more intense adventures (think: mountain climbing, paragliding near coastal cliffs, or scuba diving deeper than 75 feet), you can add our adventure activities upgrade to your Ultimate, Advantage, Essential, or Travel Med Go plan.

You can. If unexpected circumstances — such as illness or a covered emergency — prevent you from traveling to Morocco, our Ultimate, Advantage, and Essential plans provide trip cancellation coverage for eligible reasons.

For travelers who want the ability to cancel outside standard covered reasons, our cancel for any reason* upgrade offers added flexibility. Available only with the Ultimate plan, it allows you to cancel your trip and recover up to 75% of your insured trip cost, as long as you cancel two or more days before departure.

This upgrade must be purchased within 21 days of your first trip payment, at least 31 days prior to departure, and requires you to insure the full value of your prepaid, nonrefundable expenses — up to $10,000 per person.

*Cancel for any fortuitous reason in NY. Not available if Israel or the West Bank are included as destinations during the trip.

All our plans include cruise coverage, so whether your ship arrives late into Casablanca, you miss a stop in Tangier, or you need emergency help while onboard, you’ll have support throughout your journey.

It’s best to buy Morocco travel insurance as soon as your flights and accommodations are confirmed. Purchasing early helps ensure you’re eligible for trip cancellation benefits if something unforeseen happens before departure and they’re included in your policy.

Spring and fall are popular times to visit Morocco, and higher travel volume can sometimes lead to delays. Having travel insurance for Morocco in place early can help protect your plans.

Buying early also allows you to review optional upgrades, like rental car damage protection or adventure activity coverage, so your policy aligns with how you plan to travel.

It may (under our emergency medical benefit), if you’re eligible for our pre-existing condition exclusion waiver, which is included with the Ultimate plan only.

To be eligible, be sure to:

  • Buy your plan within 21 days of your initial trip payment.
  • Insure 100% of your total trip cost.
  • Be medically able to travel on the day you purchase the plan.

Meeting these requirements allows coverage for certain pre-existing conditions, offering you added protection as you plan your Morocco itinerary.
