Travel delay
If I’m visiting multiple countries, what should I put as my destination when getting a quote?
If you plan to visit multiple countries on your next trip, you should list your destination as the location where you’ll be spending the most time.
What is primary coverage?
Primary coverage means we’re the first ones to reimburse your emergency medical expenses — rather than your health insurance company — if we accept your medical-related travel insurance claim.
What is secondary coverage?
If you have medical expenses while traveling, secondary (or “excess”) coverage means you’ll need to file a claim with your health insurance provider first. Then, you can file a Travelex claim for potential reimbursement for the remainder.
What’s the Travelex insurance cancellation policy?
At Travelex, our plans have review periods during which you can cancel your policy. If you no longer want your policy, it’s within the first 21 days after purchasing and you haven’t departed or filed a claim, we can refund your policy cost. We count the date you purchased your policy as day one of your review period. The review period varies by state.
Why should I buy travel insurance?
Trips don’t always go according to plan. And if something unexpected happens while you’re traveling, our plans can reimburse you for eligible unexpected costs.
When should I buy travel insurance?
It's a good idea to purchase a travel insurance plan as soon as you’ve made the first payment for your trip. The earlier you purchase, the sooner you have trip cancellation coverage in place to help protect your trip investment.
Can I get travel insurance coverage for any destination?
We want you to travel far and see the world, then come home safely. That’s why our travel insurance can cover you in all domestic and international locations without OFAC sanctions. (Countries with OFAC sanctions likely aren’t safe for visitors, so we’d rather you chose another destination.) We also can’t cover any countries listed on our blocked destinations page.
