Often, the host or owner of your rental property will deduct the cost of damages from the security deposit you paid to book your stay. If you include our Travelex security deposit upgrade in your policy, you can get up to $2,000 coverage for loss of your rental property security deposit if you unexpectedly damage the property.

We can reimburse you for one of the following, whichever costs less:

The cost of repairs to the rental property
The actual cash value of the property up to $2,000

Ensure you’re on the rental agreement for the property.
Take all reasonable steps to protect the property and stop further damage.
Report the damage in writing to the property owner or management company within three days of returning from your trip.

Your rental agreement
Proof of payment

The property owner has a life-threatening illness or injury and can’t host you.
Your host cancels because a natural disaster (like a hurricane or earthquake) makes the property uninhabitable or unreachable.

In other cases — like if your host abruptly cancels without a reason or accidentally double-booked you with another guest — you won’t have coverage.

You can get our vacation rental travel insurance regardless of which company you use to book your rental property. We don’t have specific coverage for Airbnb, VRBO, or other rentals, so you can take your pick from our plans and upgrades based on what works best for you.
