Heavy rain can indicate the potential for dangerous flooding, or flash flooding. Flooding can be the result of slow-moving thunderstorms; thunderstorms repeatedly moving over the same area; heavy rains from hurricanes and tropical storms; or dam or levee failure.
Dangerous flooding often occurs suddenly and within only minutes or hours of intense rainfall, and floodwaters can sweep away anything in their path. Other risks associated with floodwaters include mudslides, infectious diseases, chemical hazards, and injuries.
Travel impacted by dangerous flooding may be eligible for travel protection coverage and assistance services. Travelex protection plans must have been purchased prior to the date when an event becomes foreseeable. Customers who purchased their plans prior to an event occurring may be eligible for coverage.
Events listed on this page will reflect the past 6 months. Any events outside of that timeframe can be located on the archive page.
